Great telling. Great story, though not one to wish on anyone. My son Diego got “lost” once too, from my husband, for at least an hour, if not more. I have a story partly about it, “My Son’s Privileged Encounters With the Police”.

A detail in your story greatly resonated with me. I’m a preschool special education teacher. When I ask parents for pictures of their dog, I usually get one or more right away. It takes longer for them to send in pictures of human family members.
