Hi Sana Rose,

What an incredible article. I can attest to what you write so well about. My children are 24 and 26. In my culture, it was expected that women (never men) sacrifice their personal dreams for their children.

I did for a few years. My husband didn’t make me or anything. i did it because of the ingrained expectations. I think immigrating to the US made all the difference for me, not because of the cultural differences (in fact I don’t believe they are at present many differences in this respect), but because the novelty and change made me bolder and braver.
